Wedding cakes with fresh flowers can be matched with the same as you use in your own bouquet and that of your attendants. This beautiful cake topper is made in hues of pink, but the flowers used come in a large array of colors and can be change to match your own wedding palette.
To create this look, you will need the following fresh flowers and florist supplies:
- 3 stems White Daisies
- 2 stems Miniature Carnations
- 2 stems Pink Alstroemeria
- 2 stems Pink Matsumoto Asters
- 2 Hot Pink Spray Roses
- 1 stem Leather Leaf Fern
- 1 Regular Oasis Iglu Holder
- Crystal Clear Flower Food
- Finishing Touch or Crowning Glory Flower Sealant
- 1 clear plastic or white disposable dessert plate OR Wax Paper Circle
First read up on the correct way of processing fresh flowers upon arrival. This is so important, as DIY brides don't have walk in coolers with added humidity like a professional florist does. These products will prolong the life of your fresh flowers and keep them looking beautiful up to and through your wedding day.
Soak the Iglu Foam Cage in water that has been treated with Crystal Clear Flower Food. Arrange the flowers in the holder. After done, mist well with Finishing Touch or Crowning Glory. If possible, store in refrigerator. If not, store in a cool darkened room. Cut a circle of wax paper or put a clear dessert plate between the topper and the cake. Don't use a heavy plate, but lightweight not to put pressure on the cake. You may ask the cake baker to put in support dowel rods.
