Wedding cakes with fresh flowers are a delight on this multi-colored cake. All the colors of spring are clustered around the layers of this cake.
For the topper you'll need the following:
All flowers used on a cake should rest in a water bath of fresh water with a few drops of bleach added. Shake them gently, and allow to dry on clean paper towels. Mist well with a flower sealant and then allow to dry.
A cake topper is usually designed on a small Oasis Iglu. Oasis Iglus come in two different sizes, regular and Grande. What size you need depends on how many flowers are in the design.
I do have a step by step tutorial on how to green up an Oasis Iglu. These handy little cages filled with florist foam can be used in so many different ways.
Once the Iglu is greened in, it's simply a matter of flowering in with the flowers selected. If you need more help, check out the easy video on flowering an Iglu. The foam is a wet product, so it is advisable to rest it on a disposable plate so not to let any water come in contact with the icing.
The rest of the cake will need the following flowers and supplies:
Individual florets can be placed gently on the edges of the cake layers.
Lay a circle of salal leaves around the cake, then add the fresh flowers, tucking them beneath the bottom edge of the cake plate.
