Make a Christmas Sleigh Centerpiece
Creating your own beautiful Christmas flower arrangements are easier than you think! (Especially if you can harvest some evergreens from your own yard.)
Wire services ask a lot of money for what florists in the trade refer to as "novelty" containers. For the Christmas season, this usually means containers shaped like sleighs, ornaments, Santa Claus plus the traditional candle arrangements that are timeless.
Sleigh arrangements are basically the same shape and design technique. Some are ceramic, crystal, wire or wicker. You'll need to be sure that if the container is not waterproof that you put a liner in it.
Ceramic
- 1/3 to 1/2 brick of Oasis florist foam
- Christmas Greens (suggestions: blue spruce, yew, flat cedar, holly, pine and other assorted greens)
- Burgundy Matsumoto Asters
- White Daisies
- Red Hypericum Berries
- Miniature Pine Cones
- Small glass ornaments
- Finishing Touch or Crowning Glory
