Now bend the wire up double and fold so it is against it's own handle.  Tape again.

You now have a slender (but strong) wire frame to lay against the bending leather leaf fern.  Place it directly against the fern on the back side.

Now use florist tape to secure the wire frame into place.

Now pick up another piece of leather leaf fern.

Place it against the back, over the wire thus concealing the frame.  The "right" side of the fern should be facing outward.  Add another piece of leather leaf fern if needed to completely conceal the taped wire.

You now have a layer of green that stand fairly straight and flat, ready to back your fresh flowers with.
