A fresh flower garland takes a little more time to make than most floral designs. There are different ways to create one, but with this huge quantity of fresh flowers, it's best to give it a water source.
Oasis Garlands are Max-Life florist foam, held in place by strong netting, and separated into cylinders so that the final fresh flower garland can be draped or wrapped around various shapes.
Flower garlands can be a challenge to deliver, since the flowers are all around. To help keep from bruising the flower petals, consider using the delivery boxes that your wholesale flowers were delivered in.
Notch both ends of the strong boxes. The boxes are usually water resistant, with a waxy coating sprayed on them. I tape the netting ends securely in place with duct tape, which will hold the soaked cylinders suspended for easy insertion of flowers. After designing, lightweight tissue can be crumpled and used to support the flowered foam cylinders.
The netting is made of very strong fibers that can be used to hang or suspend the cylinders. The individual foam cylinders can be cut to various lengths and used for various purposes, such as draping over windows, doors and pillars . . . or cut into separate lengths to decorate chairs or pew ends.
The netting between the cylinders gives the final design flexibility. Lengthen the stems at the ends of the cylinders to cover the gap between the foam pieces.
The hanging of the flowered garland and the natural drawing of the fresh flowers can deplete the cylinders of moisture. Be sure to keep the Oasis foam well saturated, replacing the water as needed by dribbling water under running water until the wedding date.
This garland is expensive, because the flowers are very dense, packed tightly against each other. There is approximately 30+ flower heads per cylinder as shown below. If you need to cut down on the cost, you can use an inexpensive greenery like leather leaf fern to space out the flowers and use less.
The finished garland is truly stunning, lush with flowers. Please remember that wet oasis and fresh flowers can weigh quite a bit. Any hooks or anchors should be solid and able to support the final weight of the garland.
Transporting the flowers can be in the same boxes if you choose to design the garland suspended in the box as shown.
