Fresh pine can be a little sticky with sap, so take care with handling. You may want to keep a pair of flower snips handy, as the sap can sometimes gum up a sharp knife.
I tend to trim the ends of fresh pine, which are sometimes browned on the ends.
Take care to give it a choppy cut, so it looks natural and not sharply cut across the edge.
Trimming the pine not only releases the lovely fragrance, but it also keeps the greens from overwhelming this smaller design, as it can look a little "bushy" if overdone.
