Chrysanthemums are a popular flower used in Christmas designs, because of their long lasting endurance and readily availability. The bright green centers add a festive touch to the colors in the design.
Cut the long laterals off the central stem with a sharp knife with a clean cut stem allows it to insert easily into the florist foam.
Set the flower heads a little above the greenery.
Insert the flowers heads in from all sides.
You may need to work the stem in gradually, taking care not to crush the stem.
Be sure the flower heads are facing outwards in all directions, both at the side and upwards at the top.

I like to keep the flower heads following the natural shape of the sled. You can do a larger design, but can easily end up with the flowers overpowering the sleigh and becoming simply a hidden container.
Leave open some areas in which to place the contrasting flowers and some additional items of interest, such as christmas ornaments, ribbon or pine cones.
You can see there are plenty of openings for inserting the contrasting burgundy flowers.
