Smaller sized Christmas ornaments can be wired, taped and quickly added to add shine and interest to any Christmas flower design.
Take care to choose balls that have an open grid at the top that makes it easy to add a wire stem.
I usually use a stiffer wire, between 18 and 21 gauge that will create a firm stem.
Use florist tape, starting winding it at the very base of the ornament and the pull it down tightly as you wind it down around the wire stem.
The final look is a delicate ornament on a sturdy stem that can be easily inserted among the greenery and flowers.
I would recommend that the balls be no larger than the flower heads themselves so as not to overpower the design.
I added a contrasting color of green to pull out the green trim on the bottom of the sleigh.
Tuck the ornaments in deep enough to conceal the tape on the neck of the ball.
Deeply buried in among the greens, the balls add a bright spot of color and shine to even the simplest of designs.
A side view shows the ornaments peeping out from under the flower heads and hypericum berries.
