Don't despair if your Matsumoto asters have droopy heads - they aren't wilted! That is simply the nature of this lovely little flower.
I like the burgundy shade of this dainty flower, because I think it compliments the color the the sled better than bright red carnations or roses would.
Matsumoto asters do not have leaves down their stems, just the fringe of leaves around the flower head.
Gently push the flower stems into the wet foam, taking care not to bend or break the stem which could impede the uptake of water.
Scan over the design for where each flower placement should be.
Don't forget to tuck a few of the smaller flowers under the forward runner of the sleigh.
Always turn your design around frequently to be sure you keep the flowers spaced out.
I'm now going to add another spot of bright color with a stem of brightly colored hypericum berries.
