Fresh dry pack flowers are shipped directly from the fields.  Although some may be "cracked" to show some color - most field harvested flowers are shipped in tight bud form to avoid bruising and give the flowers a long life.

Don't discard the buds.  If they have a continual water source, they'll open naturally in your arrangement.  If you want a little more color showing, squeeze the bulb gently and fluff the petals apart for more color.

Flowers like roses, asters and Gerbera daisies can be used within hours of delivery, after they've been processed correctly and have had time for a nice long drink of water to re-hydrate them.

Some other flowers (like lilies) will need several days to open up to their natural glory.  Truly fresh flowers will have a long life.  That's why it's important to order from a reputable wholesaler who stand behind their flower quality.

As you can see, the colors just pop as you quickly fill in the design with your fresh flowers.

If you are doing a large event (like a wedding or a corporate party) you can green several days in advance, mist the greens with a sealant spray (such as Finishing Touch) and set them aside to be flowered a day or two before the event.

The flowers can be in water buckets, processed correctly and kept in as cool a place as possible until you flower in the centerpieces.

The bright reds contrast beautifully with the cool greens and the lovely hydrangea!
