I ran across some lovely embossed foil wrapped boxes in my local Dollar store. I'm always intrigued to see if I can incorporate such a find into a flower design!
I first set aside the smaller, fitted cardboard top. Perhaps I can find a smaller liner for it sometime later. Right now, my attention is focused on the taller portion of the box.
I actually tried out a standard glass inside the box right at the store and discovered it was an almost perfect fit.
Slipping the inexpensive glass or cylinder vase inside the box literally gave me a vase (a waterproof liner) for the inside of my proposed centerpiece.
As you can see, there is a little wriggle room. I'll have to take care to fix it so water can't dribble down into the cardboard section, ruining the box as the fresh centerpiece does need to be rewatered on a daily basis.
Fresh flowers and evergreens take up a lot of water and it needs to be replaced to get the full life out of my flower arrangement.
Of course - an obvious solution would be to create a silk centerpiece that would be beautiful year after year - but I always like the challenge of working with fresh flowers!
