Next tape the canes on these Christmas centerpieces in place with clear scotch tape. Be sure to use the transparent film, so it is invisible against the candy wrapper.
This tape is 3/4 inch wide. The wider works better than the narrow clear cellophane usually used in florist vase grids.
Cut off long strips and be sure the candy canes are right where you want them before taping into place.
I'm going to wrap a ribbon around the center of the vase, so this is where I place my clear tape.
Pull the tape snugly so that the canes don't loosen when you pull the rubber bands away.
It's easier to simply snip the rubber bands off rather than try to lift the vase and slip the bands off the bottom.
Be sure the canes are taped tightly into place before moving on to the next step.
